Focus Area Grants

In the fall of 2017 the Foundation announced two new broad focus areas for our community investments—Building an Inclusive Economy and Advancing Equity in Education. To further refine our priorities in these areas, we have spent the past year listening to hundreds of individuals from across Forsyth County to gather perspectives to inform our new priorities.

We have created a microsite, Evolving to Meet Community Needs, that reflects more about what we heard in our listening conversations and reveals how the Foundation is evolving to serve the community in these critical focus areas.

As a result of our listening and strategy sessions with our grantees, partners, and directly-impacted community members, the Foundation has identified six initial priority areas in which to begin our programmatic work within our two broad focus areas.

Upcoming Responsive Grant Deadlines

Our initial responsive grant funding will work toward addressing:

  • Access to efficient and affordable transportation (Spring 2019)
  • Reduction in the racial wealth gap (Fall 2019)

Recognizing all of the available tools and resources we have to support our new priorities, we will begin moving forward on these and the four other priorities in 2019. We will continue to advance our learning as we work toward additional grantmaking rounds.
