The Winston-Salem Foundation Award - 2016

Sylvia Oberle

For redefining what Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County could accomplish and for expanding its impact throughout the community in innovative and positive ways with Habitat and non-Habitat homeowners alike;

For transforming blocks in the Boston-Thurmond area and in other neighborhoods, where new Habitat homes and families are now complementing newly-renovated and remodeled homes;

For leading the move to more accessible and profitable Habitat ReStores in Winston-Salem and Kernersville, resulting in additional revenue that is expanding the number of families it serves each year;

For investing in in the very neighborhood in which much of Habitat's work is now taking place by relocating Habitat Forsyth's headquarters and new education center there;

For her transformative leadership, bringing together people of diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, and faiths for open dialogue on how to improve our community's neighborhoods.
