Non-Endowed Advised Fund
WHAT ARE THEY?

They are a type of fund that allows you to support the issues and organizations you care about. Donors typically use this type of fund for their annual giving to numerous nonprofits or to become familiar with the Foundation.

Once you establish a fund using cash, stock, or other assets - you may recommend grants to nonprofit organizations of your choice, without geographic restrictions. The grants will be made in the name of the fund, or - if you choose - anonymously. The Winston-Salem Foundation ensures that grant recipients meet accepted criteria for being charitable organizations and are able to fulfill your expectations for the use of the grants.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • You and your family can recommend grants to your favorite charities and add to the fund at anytime.
  • You can choose to partner with the Foundation to fund competitive grants through Grantmaking Partners.
  • The Foundation keeps track of your donations and provides timely gift acknowledgements. Quarterly statements show all activity in the fund, including grants from the fund and gifts to the fund.
  • Because the fund is not endowed, you may recommend that the Foundation grant the fund's principal.  You only have to maintain a minimum balance of $1,000.
  • You can recommend grants on-line, by mail, or by fax.
